Here are some realizations from the weekend...
1) The Scranton Airport is tiny. They closed the security checkpoint from 8 until 9 b/c, well, they could.
2) YL camp appears less holy the further you move toward the background. You realize that back there, the people are more holy.
3) Ohio needs more mountains and streams/rivers - especially ones where I can throw rocks into the river. If you know of any of these around Columbus let me know.
4) Lauren listens to more music in various forms than the average high school in aggregate.
5) Small towns are only entertaining with good company.
6) The phrase 'I'm her boyfriend' sounds odd when it's said for the first time after 23+ years.
7) Back to back holes-in-one on a frisbee golf course does not outweigh losing in bowling to a girl (for the record, on the three game series I beat her by 130 pins, but I choked like a 6 month old playing with an 8 year old's toys in the second game).
8) Coldplay is just plain good stuff. I avoided them b/c I felt that they were a trendy band - now I sucked it up and hit them up on iTunes.
9) If you go to the highest point in New Jersey, don't bother climbing the monument just enjoy the view from the bottom. The extra 298 stairs aren't worth jack squat.
10) I look up to people more when they are honest and admit their faults - Donald Miller does that in Blue Like Jazz.
11) In most cases there is no need to sleep past 7.
12) Albino squirrels are intimidating.
13) Serving others gets harder the further you get from linking that service to Jesus.
14) I have 2.5 weeks left of work or 13 days or 102.5 hours (it's 930 now). No I don't intend to keep a countdown, but in typing that I realize that my sick time and vacation time has roughly the same total. Betcha can guess what I'm thinking now.
15) I now have met one truly english person, and so my current assumption is that all English people are hysterical. Absolutely hysterical.
16) I am rapidly losing funniness, yet I still have a lot on my mind. I think I need a serious LJ and a ridiculous LJ.
17) I need a new rubberband for my wrist.
Here's the question for all of you:
If you needed a friend/colleague/enemy/acquantance to give you one top 5 list that would give you the most important information about them that mattered to you, what would you choose and why?
Some sample responses:
Top 5 movies b/c you can see what they like and at the least you could watch movies with them
Top 5 qualities in a mate b/c you can find out if you have a shot with them
Top 5 trophies you've one b/c you find out about their past and what matters to them
Top 5 Letters of the Alphabet b/c you find out how much of a ridiculous question they are willing to answer for you
Let me know...
